Background on the Continuity Forum

The partner you need whatever the challenge!

The Continuity Forum was created to provide research, support, advice and liaison to all types of companies, professionals and government groups interested or involved in the sector. Our work has been substantially extended over the past 10 years as the sector has evolved, grown and become more complex. Over this time the Continuity Forum has maintained its pre-eminent position as the only independent NGO active in the sector.  The Continuity Forum remains a leader in the identification and response to industry issues and is represented on all the main Standards committees for Business Continuity, Risk and Resilience bringing a unique perspective to our work that ensures we are always at the forefront of industry knowledge and development.

Since 1999 the Continuity Forum Team has been working to create Business Continuity and building Resilience with aim of sharing good practice and experiences and consequently reducing the impact of events from all causes. The Continuity Forum has developed a World Class reputation for its thought leadership, education programmes and industry development initiatives along with its dedicated Research and Analysis services tailored to meet the needs of this complex and challenging sector.

Our team is now acknowledged as the worlds leading research group on Business Continuity, Security, Resilience and Risk issues and has supported thousands of companies, as well as many regulators, Government and media organisations in the UK and Internationally.

A key part of our ethos is to promote BCM to smaller organisations and we have helped introduce the principles and practice of Business Continuity Planning to over 100,000 organisations so far. This will continue to be a core principle of the Forum and we are engaged in a number of significant activities geared to further increase the awareness and invest in Business Continuity and Resilience Management. With developments in our Systems our Website will become an increasingly important vehicle to support this work.

Our events have enabled many thousands to access world class advice both directly from the Forum and our partners in Business and Government. Many of these have been provided completely free of charge and have been enthusiastically received with feedback from delegates consistently rating them as 'excellent'

We have developed a formal structure for our policy and development activities and over the past 10 years we have been at the centre on developments championing the introduction of Standards, the inclusion of BCM in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and the raft of guidance now available from regulators. The policy team has been at the forefront of industry development working on the development and implementation of BS25999 and the US standard for Business Continuity ANSI BCM.01 and is continuing to form partnerships with Business and Government as the sector continues to develop. The Continuity Forum is especially interested in the development of Resilience and the standards emerging in this area.

The team is working hard to further support the profession with an exciting range of events and initiatives. Please do get involved as it is by listening to you that we can truly deliver the support needed to further the development of Business Continuity Management, Security and Resilience.

Finally, the next five years will be a vital time for professionals in our sector and the Continuity Forum is at the heart of our industries developments with partners covering virtually every aspect of the profession. The Continuity Forum pledges to be at the forefront of industry debate and development providing essential independent support, advice, services and research intelligence to the whole community.
