Designing for Counter-terrorism - RIBA guidance

This document provides Business Continuity guidance from RIBA on designing for Counter-terrorism and Resilience.

The guidance comes in two parts and will be valuable to all those working in the areas of Business Continuity, Resilience and Security, as well as the professionals building our communities.

Part 1 of the document informs built environment professionals of recent government work to protect crowded places. It has particular relevance for the design of large new developments, and places where large numbers of people gather.

Part 2 of the document sets out the most common Business Continuity considerations when designing for counter-terrorism in the built environment. These are set alongside case studies that show the different ways built environment professionals are responding to the challenge of creating high quality places that are safer from the risk of terrorism yet still attractive to the public.
