Spring 2006 Briefing

Welcome
This is the first in our new briefing reports updating you on our activities and bringing you detailed information on emerging or developing industry topics.
In this edition we have a wide range of what we hope you will find are interesting articles covering our latest research with the Cabinet Office and the Chartered Institute of Mangement. We also look at at the new British Standard for Business Continuity Management which will be known as BS25999 and in an article from John Sharp, our Policy Director, delve into the relationship between BCM and Risk Management.
In addition, we also feature an indepth look at the potential for a H5N1 Pandemic through the eyes of a leading Expert in the field and a regular Continuity Forum presenter Dr Bharat Pankania.
We also take the opportunity to remind you of the Special Conference event on May 31st held in conjunction with CIR looking at “How would your organisation deal with a Flu Pandemic?” as well as a look at how the media are porttaying the impact of a Pandemic in a movie feature "Fatal Contact". Following this up we have the details of the US National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza and a checklist to you assess your preparedness.
We are have a general update on both current and future Continuity Forum events and workshops and we’ll be taking a look at some of the unseen work of the Continuity Forum and putting a spotlight on some our services that make us your unrivalled partner.
There are details on how you can get your very own 'Continuity Forum' for your organisation and we show how Local and Public Sector groups can tap into our expertise and experience to help promote Business Continuity as required by the Civil Contingencies Act. We have even found space for a few ‘Top Jobs’ from the Website
We have also be spotlighlighted two of our partners whose support is vital making our work possible. The Continuity Forum relies on sponsors like these to support our events programmes and industry development work. We would like to thank both MARSH and ICM for their ongoing support, helping us in creating Continuity and building Resilience.
As always we’d love your feedback on this briefing and we positively welcome your comments, submissions or ideas. Please click this LINK to tell us what you think.
