The Continuity Forum announces Special Risks summit in association with the Cabinet Office

The Continuity Forum in association with the Cabinet Office will be hosting a Special Risks Summit on 26th September 2008. This special event will discuss the implications of the Pitt review and examine the developing role of Business Continuity Management in enabling better resilience. The summit will prominently feature the latest information on Flooding and Pandemic risk and detail both best practice advice and our latest research into the preparedness of organisations.

Throughout this Summit the Cabinet office and the Continuity Forum will be sharing information on the vital role of BCM in establishing better Organisational and Community Resilience across the UK.

This all day Summit event will be held in London and will be open to both members and non-Members of the Continuity Forum. Places will be at a premium and early registration or expressions of interest are urged.

Recent events have highlighted the need for a significantly higher level of business preparedness in organisations of all sizes.  In fact, recent research conducted by the Continuity Forum and the Chartered Management Institute suggests that still only 47% of large organisations have Business Continuity Plans in place.  This figure is still lower in medium and smaller organisations; indeed looking at the very latest study undertaken by the Continuity Forum in the 1st half of 2008 and being shared at the summit shows that specific Planning for Pandemic is far worse with the vast majority of organisations’ having weak or no plans at all.

The situation with regards to flooding risk is little better and even though the frequency of events appears to be rising most organisations are still failing to establish measures to protect themselves.

To address this worrying situation The Continuity Forum, in association with The Cabinet Office and British Airways, is bringing you a Special Risks Summit, which will share the most current thinking from government and experts on the issues and measures needed to combat them.

This Special Risks Summit is the first in a new series of Special events targeted at addressing specific issues affecting the sector, providing insight and advice in a series of ongoing high level Summits.

Each Summit will be supported by tailored in-depth research and involve leading experts and thought leaders. Accompanying each support will be a mini-series of supporting events ranging from Workshops all the way through to custom in-house sessions designed to further support change and development.

Our aim through this event is to give an overview of the special risks facing various industries, and to allow our delegates to hear from our expert speakers, and to learn from their fellow delegates.
