Resilience in the South East

Resilience is defined as: "as the ability of the community, services, area or infrastructure to withstand the consequences of an incident".

Business Continuity Seminar and Resilience Exhibition
1st September 2006, Winchester Guildhall, 0900 - 1400

Following the highly successful Secure in the Knowledge Events held in Camberley in October 2005 and Maidstone in March 2006, the Government Office for the South East, Hampshire County Council and The Continuity Forum are delighted to pre-announce a follow up event on 1st September 2006.

This third event in our series will follow a similar agenda, but will include recently updated information.

The South East has the highest number of potential targets for disruptive action in England, including:

· Five major airports and the most congested airspace
· 11 maritime ports, four container ports and the most congested sea-lanes
· Around 700 miles of coastline
· The most complex motorway network
· The most complex rail network
· The largest number of nuclear establishments
· A significant number of large-scale social and sporting events and locations

Because of our close proximity to London, almost every significant event in the capital will directly affect our region.

This event focuses on the facts covering some of the current high profile risks to business and highlights why companies have to ACT to build their resilience and Business Continuity Management plans.

The Event will include a Senior Figure from the Security world and experts in the field of Health and, of course, Business Continuity.

It is expected that this event will attract a large audience, offering potential networking with businesses of all sizes in the local area. We urge early registration.

The event is offered free of charge to delegates. It is aimed at offering businesses and those who advise and support businesses, unbiased and straightforward advice on Security, Business Continuity & Resilience Planning matters. Delegates are being invited from the South East Region, especially Hampshire and surrounding areas.
