Boosting BCM and Security in Scotland in association with Strathclyde Police
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fighting terrorism relies greatly on public understanding and support, communicating with partners agencies is therefore essential and we are pleased to be further supporting our national programme of activities with a special event held is association with Strathclyde Police in Glasgoe on 26th September where the Continuity Forum will be addressing businesses from the Glasgow area in the sixth in the series of events with Strathcylde Police focussing on Terrorism and BCM.
Speakers will provide a cover special presentations from the Ports unit, Counter Terrorism Security Advisers and some guest speakers, and we'll be covering the importance of business continuity before and following a major incident or disaster.
This conference is one the series of "Focus on Terrorism" seminars taking place throughout the Force area which are being held in conjunction with a number of other organisations, including the Scottish Business Crime Centre, the National Counter Terrorism Security Office, , Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and the National Infrastructure Security Co-ordination Centre aas well as the Continuity Forum.
Detective Inspector Stephen McAllister, counter terrorism security advisor with Strathclyde Police, said:
“Recent experience from across the globe has taught us about the need to be more proactive and upfront with our business community.
“This event is not being arranged because of a specific threat to the area. It is simply about providing information and reassurance and ensuring businesses know where to go for any additional advice.”
Russell Price of the Continuity Forum says "These events are a perfect demonstration of the concerted effort to boost the awareness and growth of Business Continuity nationally. Working in union with Strathclyde Police throughout this series of events has enabled us to motivate and inform a diverse audience of local businesses on the benefits and need for BCM generally."
"Whilst the Focus of the Police message is terrorism we are able to broaden the theme into more mainstream areas relevent to Business and show how connected BCM management can help organisations deal with day to day disruptions."
